Dungi Sapor

Dungi Sapor is an Indigenous DJ, producer, and cultural advocate from the Pangcah (Amis) Cikasuwan community in Hualien, Taiwan. With over a decade of experience, she is one of the few artists in Taiwan reimagining Indigenous sound through electronic music. Her sets draw on Pangcah vocal textures, natural soundscapes, and deep basslines—bridging ancestral memory with club energy. What began as a university hobby has grown into a mission: to create space for Indigenous voices on global dance floors, and to reconnect youth with cultural identity through music that moves both body and spirit.

Her breakout single “I Ho Yan”, a reinterpretation of a ceremonial chant, was featured at the 2022 NBA G League in New York. She has since performed at major events including TAIWANfest in Canada, Ultra Taiwan, S2O Festival, and the 2024 Paris Cultural Olympics. Dungi has been named one of Asia’s top DJs by EDMDroidAsia, opened for European techno heavyweight Monoloc’s Asia tour, and collaborated with brands such as BOSE, Brabus, Chanel, and Coach. She has also served as music director for Taipei Fashion Week and Farglory Hotel Hualien.

More than just a performer, Dungi Sapor is building a movement. She is the co-founder and resident DJ of isaNight, an Indigenous dance party that has become a platform for indigenizing club culture in Taiwan. She is part of a growing wave of artists reclaiming Indigenous sound as contemporary art—cultivating an Indigenous dance floor that is healing, proud, and global. Her work speaks to a future where electronic music is not a detour from cultural roots, but a return to them, reimagined. With each beat, she challenges silence, reshapes narratives, and dances with the past into the now.
